What is polyester and where does it come from?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It was invented in 1941 by British chemists John Rex Whinfield and James Tennant Dickson and became increasingly popular in the 1970s thanks to the way it was advertised as a “miracle fiber that can be worn for 68 days without an ironing board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polyester is a general term for any fabric made from polyester yarn or fiber. It is an abbreviated name for a synthetic, anthropogenic polymer, which, as a special material, is more commonly referred to as a type called polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It is formed by mixing ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. They sound extremely scientific and difficult to understand, but in essence, polyester is a kind of plastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The polyester fabric has uniform fibers in contrast to the natural ones, such as e.g. of cotton. Also, its fibers are very durable and elastic, with the result that the garment is easily restored and does not wrinkle.<\/p>\n\n\n
